Rotary E-Club of Tamar HK

2017-18 President

Herman Lo

Rotary Year (RY) 2017-2018 marks the third year of our Club since it was chartered on 15th May 2015.

The theme of this Rotary Year is “Making a Difference”, we aim to organise and manage club activities and services which would develop our club and could serve the needs in a way which would make a difference to their life and members could develop fellowship during the course. In order to achieve this aim, we would adopt Partnering with our service partners so that we could scale up the service projects involved.

An English saying “A small difference makes all the difference” is best to describe the rationale of our service projects of RY 2017-2018 — we aim to improve details of life of those in need which would benefit them significantly in the long term as they continue to make the change during their daily life. Whilst details of service projects are described in detailed Club Plan, the following three projects are worth being introduced below:-

1. Staying Health! Staying Happy! - Healthy Kitchen - A cooking competition which targeted participants are mainly rehabilitated persons and their families which is co-organised by the Society of Rehabilitation & Crime Prevention HK. Around twenty multi-functional cookers would be procured and be used during the competition and would be given to the participants as a gift after the competition. This project aims to encourage healthy cooking and provide caring to the participants.

2. Staying Happy! Staying Calm! - A series of four seminars to parents of kindergarten children on family relation building, understanding of emotion management, essential causes of depression, stress management and suicide prevention which is co-organised with the Baptist Convention of HK Po Tin Kindergarten in Tuen Mun. The aim of this service project is to address and raise awareness of emotion issue of students by providing a series of four seminars to their parents who are mostly with low income and have received low level education with topics covered such as family relation building, emotion & stress management, depression and suicide prevention. Around 160 students and their parents would be served.

3. International service project - A joint service project with Rotary Club of Quirino Manila Central (RCQMC) in Philippines. The project involves provision of services to Sapang Bayan Day Care Centre in Municipality of Calumpit in the province of Bulacan in Philippines which service targets are 3 to 5 years old children. Services include visiting the day care centre and provide resources to the day care centre. This project provides caring to low income and homeless children and parents in Manila, Philippines via organising a joint project with a Rotary Club in Philippines and foster advancement of international understanding through organisation of international services project. This project would serve more than 100 people.

In the area of Club administration, several joint meetings with other Rotary Clubs would be organised so that Club members could have more opportunities to develop fellowship with Rotarians from other Clubs. Subsidies incentive would be arranged and provided to encourage members to participate District seminars and events.

We look forward to members would find their satisfaction somehow as a Rotarian of our Club during the RY Making a Difference.

Let’s Join Hands - Engage Rotary, Change Lives.

Light Up Rotary Together. Be the Gift to the World!
